Tamraght, Taghazout beach

Are you a surf lover? If yes then you must visit Taghazout to add it to the list of best surfing sites!

Taghazout is a gem that is located on Morocco’s Atlantic coast. It is easily accessible from the Agadir international airport, only 40 minutes -1 hour drive and Morocco itself is only 2.5 - 3 hours flight from Europe which makes it very accessible to Europeans.

Taghazout is famous for it’s surfing and the Killer Point destination is very favorable by surf lovers all around the world. You can spot Killer Whales at that location during summer and that’s where the name Killer Point came from. Waves can be very high and surf rides can be very enjoyable for advanced surfers.

Surf Maroc

When we were planning our trip to Taghazout we wanted the best surfing experience and as much as we researched Surf Maroc was the best resort to stay for surf lovers. Unfortunately we didn’t end up staying there because resort only offers packages for a 1 week of stay ( full 7 days) and we were only visiting Taghazout for 4 days. But our friends stayed there and were very happy therefore I want to briefly describe this resort for the people who is looking for a week stay with every day surfing+yoga experience and this place is the best in area, based on our research and friends feedback. Why is it so great? There are 3 resort locations all conveniently positioned on the oceanfront and offer surf and yoga classes all day long. Concierge would plan you arrival and help with transportation from the airport to Surf Maroc, if you need one and don’t have a car. Resort operates one of the best yoga retreats in Morocco therefore every day visitors would enjoy best yoga practices from sunset to sunrise. From different variations of yoga the classes are open to people with all levels of experience, therefore don’t be shy and try them all! The daily schedule in Surf Maroc would consist of yoga and then half the day of surf. Daily schedule looks like this:

07.30 – Sunrise yoga
09.30 – Hearty and healthy breakfast banquet
10.30 – Road trip to the best waves
11.00 – Surf lessons
13.00 – Picnic at the beach
14.00 – Guided free surfing
16.00 – Afternoon tea and relax
17.30 – Sunset yoga
19.30 – Nibbles and star lit, ocean front dinner

I’m looking forward to my next vacation in Morocco that I can stay at relaxation and meditation resorts like this one!

Riu Tikida Palace

We ended up staying at another beautiful resort Riu Tikida that didn’t offer daily surfing but had multiple other benefits. I believe it is the best place to stay for it’s value. The resort is huge and there are numerous regular pools and one infinity pool with the view of the beach, many bars and restaurants and the best part is it’s all inclusive! All you can eat and drink and believe me the Swedish table/buffet style had so many variations of dishes from large grilled langoustines, grilled steaks, chicken, salads to varieties of deserts from local to international favorites! I never ate and drink so much as during those 4 days in Riu Tikida Palace. The place is very food tempting and relaxing so it’s very easy to gain some weight during the stay. We paid roughly 200$ taxes included per day of stay and we were enjoying 5 star hotel full of Europeans mostly with unlimited bar, food, pools, spa and gym. Best sunsets and sunrises.

RIU Tikida Palace, Taghazout

Because we were eating so much we had to do activities to keep in shape and we love surfing and were in Taghazout for it so we were doing it daily. As I mentioned earlier Taghazout is famous for best surfing experience and has best suft beaches that are all around and we took advantage of it. That is extra $ if you need to rent equipment and do training but if you have everything packed with you then just head to any nearby beaches and enjoy the waves. There are many surf shops on the beach and it’s easy to go other to any of those and get ready for fun activity. Waves height varies from beach to beach and by the season, we visited low waves beach Plage Tamraght 15 min drive from our resort that had several suft shops on the beach and rented equipment for 30$ per person. There are also several cafes therefore you can enjoy drinks and snacks after riding waves in hot hot water, loved loved loved that water temperature.

Surfing t-shirt with SPF 50 that i wore there i bought from Amazon, the link is here, and you can check it out on my beach photo above, it feels and looks quite lovely.

And almost mandatory picture of sunset from RIU Tikida Palace that you can see how magnificent sunsets are in Morocco!

I wish everyone the best experience on the journey to North Africa and hope that my suggestions help you or motivate you for that trip! Would love to hear your stories my dear followers.
